'Life More Ordinary Programme'
What is the ‘Life More Ordinary’ grants programme?
In 2007, the Every Disabled Child Matters campaign asked hundreds of disabled
children and young people what one thing they would like to change for disabled
children and their families.
One of the top three things they said was that there should be more fun things for them
to do.
The campaign also said it was important that young people with disabilities should be
having a say in the things that they have to do.
The money given to YouthBank for this grant round comes from that programme.
It is designed to give groups of young people with disabilities the chance to make an
application so that they can spend time away from their main carer and enjoy positive
activities, build new relationships and to ‘lead a life more ordinary’.
